Ingredients

  • 1 cup Yellow split peas
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour (gluten-free)

Instructions

  1. 1Rinse the yellow split peas.
  2. 2In a pot, combine split peas, water, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  3. 3Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the split peas are very tender.
  4. 4Mash the split peas with a fork or potato masher. Stir in salt, pepper, and gluten-free flour.
  5. 5Form the mixture into small patties.
  6. 6Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. 7Pan-fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. 8Serve warm.
