Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Tom Brown Cereal Mix
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Plant-Based Milk (Coconut, Almond, or Oat)
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar or Honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Coconut Flakes

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup Tom Brown Cereal Mix and 2 cups Water. Stir them together.
  2. 2Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Stir constantly during this time to prevent any lumps from forming and ensure the cereal cooks evenly. The cereal is done when it has thickened and smells slightly toasty.
  3. 3Uncover the saucepan and stir in the 1/2 cup Plant-Based Milk, 2 tablespoons Sugar or Honey, and 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract. Continue to stir until everything is well combined.
  4. 4Cook the cereal for another 1 to 2 minutes over low heat, stirring continuously. The cereal should thicken to your preferred consistency. It is ready when it coats the back of a spoon.
  5. 5Carefully pour the cooked cereal into individual serving bowls.
  6. 6Sprinkle the 1 tablespoon Toasted Coconut Flakes over the top of each bowl as a garnish.
  7. 7Serve the Dairy-Free Ghanaian Tom Brown Cereal hot immediately.
