Ingredients

  • 1 pound Pork shoulder
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Rice wine
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Five-spice powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. 1Cut the 1 pound of pork shoulder into 1-inch cubes.
  2. 2In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon rice wine, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder, and 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring until well combined.
  3. 3Add the 1-inch pork cubes to the marinade and toss gently to ensure every piece is evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate the pork.
  4. 4Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. 5Arrange the marinated pork cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. 6Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning the pork cubes halfway through the cooking time. The pork is done when it is cooked through and has a slightly caramelized appearance. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  7. 7Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the pork bites rest for 5 minutes before serving.
