Ingredients

  • 2 15-oz cans Canned black beans
  • 1 cup Cooked brown rice
  • 0.5 cup Red onion
  • 0.5 cup Bell pepper
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs (gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 4 Burger buns (dairy-free)

Instructions

  1. 1Drain and rinse the 2 15-oz cans of Canned black beans, then mash them in a large bowl until mostly broken down.
  2. 2Add the 1 cup of Cooked brown rice, 0.5 cup of Red onion (chopped), 0.5 cup of Bell pepper (chopped), 2 cloves of Garlic (minced), 1 tbsp of Chili powder, 1 tsp of Cumin, 0.5 tsp of Salt, and 0.25 tsp of Black pepper to the mashed black beans and mix everything together thoroughly.
  3. 3Add the 0.5 cup of Breadcrumbs to the bean mixture and mix until the entire mixture holds together when squeezed.
  4. 4Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each portion into a burger patty.
  5. 5Heat the 2 tbsp of Olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat (about 300°F or 150°C).
  6. 6Carefully place the 4 patties into the hot skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, until they are browned and heated through. The patties should feel firm to the touch.
  7. 7Serve the cooked black bean burgers on the 4 Burger buns (dairy-free).
