Dairy-Free Batata Harra (Spicy Potatoes)

A flavorful and spicy Lebanese potato dish made without dairy, featuring crispy potatoes tossed with garlic, cilantro, chili flakes, and lemon juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Potatoes
  • 0.5 cup Olive oil
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 0.5 cup Cilantro
  • 3 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes
  • 0.75 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the 2 lbs Potatoes and cut them into 1/2-inch cubes.
  2. 2Heat the 0.5 cup Olive oil in a large 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, about 375°F (190°C).
  3. 3Carefully add the cubed potatoes to the hot olive oil. Cook, stirring the potatoes every 5-7 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, which should take about 20-25 minutes.
  4. 4Add the 6 cloves of minced Garlic and the 1 tsp Chili flakes to the skillet with the potatoes. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the garlic smells fragrant.
  5. 5Add the 0.5 cup of chopped Cilantro and the 3 tbsp of Lemon juice to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat the potatoes evenly.
  6. 6Season the potatoes with the 0.75 tsp Salt and the 0.25 tsp Black pepper. Stir one last time to distribute the seasoning.
  7. 7Serve the Dairy-Free Batata Harra hot.
