Ingredients

  • 2 cups Potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/4 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Green chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Spices (cumin, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder)
  • to taste Salt
  • as needed Oil, for frying
  • 2 cups Chickpea curry (chole)
  • 1/2 cup Tamarind chutney (imli chutney)
  • 1/2 cup Mint-coriander chutney (hari chutney)
  • 1/2 cup Vegan Yogurt (coconut or almond based)
  • 1/4 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine the 2 cups of boiled and mashed potatoes, 1/4 cup of gram flour (besan), 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste, 1 teaspoon of green chilies (finely chopped), 2 tablespoons of cilantro (chopped), 1/2 teaspoon of spices (cumin, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder), and salt to taste. Mix everything together until well combined. Then, shape this mixture into small, flat patties.
  2. 2Pour enough oil into a 10-inch skillet to reach a depth of about 1/2 inch. Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the potato patties into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry the patties for 3-5 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  3. 3Remove the fried patties from the skillet using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Repeat this process with any remaining patties.
  4. 4To assemble the Aloo Tikki Chaat, arrange the crispy potato patties on serving plates.
  5. 5Generously spoon the 2 cups of chickpea curry (chole) over the potato patties.
  6. 6Drizzle the 1/2 cup of tamarind chutney (imli chutney) and the 1/2 cup of mint-coriander chutney (hari chutney) over the chickpea curry.
  7. 7Add dollops of the 1/2 cup of vegan yogurt (coconut or almond based) onto the chaat.
  8. 8Finally, garnish the dish with the 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion and the 2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro.
  9. 9Serve the Aloo Tikki Chaat immediately while the patties are still warm and crispy.
