Ingredients

  • 1 cup Tapioca Flour
  • 1/2 cup Nutritional Yeast
  • 2 cups Plant-Based Milk (Unsweetened)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Agave Nectar
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. 1In a saucepan, combine tapioca flour, nutritional yeast, plant-based milk, salt, and black pepper.
  2. 2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and forms a ball that pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. 3Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish (about 8x8 inches).
  4. 4Press the mixture evenly into the dish and let it cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to firm up.
  5. 5Once firm, cut the tapioca mixture into small cubes (about 1 inch).
  6. 6Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. 7Fry the tapioca cubes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  8. 8Remove the cubes with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. 9Serve warm with agave nectar for dipping.
