Cuban Sandwich (Egg-Free)

A classic Cuban sandwich without the egg wash! Uses a clever dairy-free butter alternative to get that golden brown crust we all love. Filled with roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Perfect for a satisfying lunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 loaves Cuban bread
  • 4 oz Roasted pork
  • 4 oz Ham
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices Dill pickles
  • 2 tsp Yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp Dairy-free butter alternative

Instructions

  1. 1Slice the 2 loaves of Cuban bread in half lengthwise.
  2. 2Spread the 2 tsp of yellow mustard evenly on the cut sides of both halves of the bread.
  3. 3On the bottom half of each loaf, layer 2 oz of roasted pork, 2 oz of ham, 1 slice of Swiss cheese, and 2 slices of dill pickles.
  4. 4Place the top half of each loaf of bread over the fillings.
  5. 5Spread 1 tbsp of the dairy-free butter alternative evenly on the top of each sandwich.
  6. 6Heat a panini press or a 12-inch skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, place the sandwiches in the skillet. If using a panini press, close the lid.
  7. 7Cook the sandwiches for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and crisp, and the Swiss cheese is melted. The internal temperature of the cheese should reach at least 165°F (74°C).
  8. 8Remove the sandwiches from the heat and let them rest for 1 minute before serving.
