Champorado (Chocolate Rice Porridge)

A comforting Filipino chocolate rice porridge, made with glutinous rice, cocoa powder, and coconut milk, making it entirely soy-free. Traditionally served for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Glutinous Rice (Sweet Rice)
  • 4 cups Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Dried Fish (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Rinse glutinous rice under cold water.
  2. 2In a pot, combine glutinous rice, coconut milk, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, and salt.
  3. 3Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until rice is tender and the porridge has thickened, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4Serve hot. Optionally, serve with dried fish on the side.
