Ingredients

  • 1 cup Queso Costeño (or feta, if unavailable)
  • 1 cup Yuca flour (tapioca starch)
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 3 cups Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine the queso costeño, yuca flour, cornstarch, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. 3Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well until a smooth dough forms.
  4. 4Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Shape the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
  6. 6Carefully drop the buñuelos into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Turn occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  7. 7Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. 8Serve warm.
