Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 cup Warm Water
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup Vegan Butter

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine the 2 cups of All-Purpose Flour and the 1/2 tsp Salt.
  2. 2Gradually add the 3/4 cup Warm Water to the flour mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a clean surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  3. 3Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 6-8 inches in diameter.
  4. 4Brush each circle evenly with the 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil, then spread a thin layer of the 1/4 cup Vegan Butter over the oiled surface.
  5. 5Fold each oiled and buttered circle in half to create a semi-circle, then fold it in half again to form a triangle.
  6. 6Gently roll out each triangle into a thin square, about 6-8 inches across.
  7. 7Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat, which is about 350°F (175°C).
  8. 8Cook each palata for 3-4 minutes per side, until it is golden brown and appears flaky. You will see puffing and browning as it cooks.
  9. 9Serve the 6 palata warm.
