Burmese Palata (Dairy-Free Flatbread)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. 2Gradually add water and vegetable oil and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. 3Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  5. 5On a lightly oiled surface, roll out each ball into a thin circle (about 6-8 inches in diameter).
  6. 6Heat a lightly oiled skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  7. 7Place the rolled-out flatbread on the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly puffed up.
  8. 8Brush with a little extra vegetable oil while cooking for added flavor and crispness.
  9. 9Remove from the skillet and serve hot. Repeat with the remaining dough.
