Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Yeast

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2In a large mixing bowl, combine the 2 cups of Cornmeal, 1 cup of All-Purpose Flour, 1 teaspoon of Salt, and 1 teaspoon of Dry Yeast. Use a whisk or spoon to mix these dry ingredients together thoroughly.
  3. 3Pour the 1.5 cups of Water and the 1/4 cup of Olive Oil into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
  4. 4Mix all ingredients together using a sturdy spoon or your hands until a cohesive dough forms. The dough will be thick and slightly sticky.
  5. 5Lightly grease a baking pan with a small amount of the 1/4 cup of Olive Oil. Pour the dough into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. 6Place the baking pan into the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. The cornbread is done when its top is golden brown and a wooden skewer or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, without any wet dough clinging to it.
  7. 7Carefully remove the baking pan from the oven and place it on a wire rack. Allow the cornbread to cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving; this cooling step helps the cornbread set and prevents it from crumbling.
