Broa de Milho (Cornbread)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Yeast
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, and salt.
  2. 2Warm the water slightly (not hot) and dissolve the yeast in it. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. 3Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix well until a dough forms.
  4. 4Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. 5Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. 6Grease a baking pan and pour the dough into the pan.
  7. 7Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
