Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/2 cup Almonds (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup Candied Orange Peel (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Kirsch (Cherry Liqueur)
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
  • 2 tbsp Dairy-Free Milk (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. 1Adjust an oven rack to the middle position. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2In a large mixing bowl, combine the 2 cups of All-Purpose Flour, 1/2 cup of Honey, 1/2 cup of chopped Almonds, 1/4 cup of finely chopped Candied Orange Peel, 2 tablespoons of Kirsch, 1 teaspoon of Baking Powder, 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of Ground Cloves. Stir all ingredients together with a sturdy spoon or your hands until a stiff, uniform dough forms.
  3. 3Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a log approximately 2 inches (5 cm) wide and 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) long. Use a pastry brush or the back of a spoon to evenly brush the top and sides of the dough log with the 2 tablespoons of Dairy-Free Milk.
  4. 4Bake the dough log in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until it is firm to the touch and lightly golden brown on the edges. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool for exactly 10 minutes.
  5. 5After 10 minutes of cooling, use a serrated knife to carefully slice the log crosswise into 1/2-inch (1.25 cm) thick biscotti. Arrange the sliced biscotti cut-side down on the same baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, flipping each biscotti halfway through the baking time (after 5 minutes), until they are golden brown and feel crispy when gently tapped.
  6. 6Remove the baking sheet from the oven and transfer the baked biscotti to a wire rack to cool completely. The biscotti will become even crispier as they cool.
