Ingredients

  • 2 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup Applesauce
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup Cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. 2Add milk and applesauce to the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. 3Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. 4Dip apple slices into the batter, coating them evenly.
  5. 5Carefully drop the battered apple slices into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. 6Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  7. 7Remove apple fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. 8Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and serve warm.
