Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Squid (cleaned)
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 2 leaves Bay leaves
  • 1 tsp Black peppercorns
  • 2 tbsp Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. 1Heat the 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat (350°F / 175°C).
  2. 2Add the 6 cloves of garlic, minced, to the hot oil and sauté for 1-2 minutes until they are fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn them.
  3. 3Add the 1.5 lbs of cleaned squid to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes, or until the squid pieces begin to curl and turn opaque.
  4. 4Pour in the 1/4 cup of soy sauce and the 1/4 cup of vinegar. Add the 2 bay leaves and the 1 teaspoon of black peppercorns.
  5. 5Bring the liquid to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the squid is tender when pierced with a fork. The squid should not be rubbery.
  6. 6Remove the skillet from the heat. Discard the 2 bay leaves before serving.
