Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pre-cooked Corn Flour (Masarepa)
  • 2 cups Warm Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 2 each Ripe Avocados
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix the corn flour, warm water, and 1 tsp salt until a soft dough forms. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  2. 2Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a flat, round cake about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. 3Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  4. 4Cook the arepas for about 5-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. 5While the arepas are cooking, mash the avocados with lime juice and 1/4 tsp salt.
  6. 6Once the arepas are cooked, slice them open and fill with the mashed avocado.
